UTE WASSERMANN / ALEKS KOLKOWSKI

Ute Wassermann has developed many special multivoiced vocal techniques, which may be deconstructed and/or superimposed and used to explore spatial resonance phenomena. She has also worked extensively with various extensions of the voice including live electronics and the use of gongs and metal coils as well as birdcall whistles and vibrating membranes.

Aleks Kolkowski has actively explored the potential of pre-electronic sound reproduction technology in live performance. His latest work combines instruments and machines from the pioneering era of sound recording and reproduction (Stroh instruments, wind-up Gramophones, shellac discs and wax-cylinder Phonographs) to make live mechanical-acoustic music.

Aleks Kolkowski and Ute Wassermann have collaborated for nine years on various performance projects, and have been performing as an improvising duo since 2006 with appearances in Holland, Germany and the UK.
